Acquired Brain Injury Floating Support ServiceThe service offers housing related support to adults in their own tenancy by enabling people to develop the necessary skills to live independently in the community. We provide a free wheelchair service for use in the shopping centre.
This is a support group run by people with speech and memory problems. Open
to sufferers and their carers. They have Social Events, such as Outings to
Places of Interest and Short Holidays etc. They meet monthly in the Lounge of
the Smithfield Inn, Bridge Road, Wellington, Shropshire.
At 1 pm on the third Monday of the month. Transport can be arranged locally.

Shropshire Care and Repair (SCAR) is a home improvement agency run by Anchor Trust to help older, disabled and vulnerable home owners and private tenants who live within Shropshire. The agency manages a countywide preferred contractor list to facilitate adaptations. Caseworkers provide clients with advice on benefits, financial information, completion of grant forms, guidance and additional services information. Technical officers provide detailed specifications, gain building and planning consent when required and manage the adaptations through to the completion of the scheme.

The Blue Badge parking scheme provides a national arrangement of parking concessions for people with severe walking difficulties, who travel either as passengers or drivers. It also applies to registered blind people and people with severe upper limb disabilities who regularly drive but cannot turn the steering wheel by hand.

The Stroke Association is a national charity that is solely concerned with stroke. Every year over 100,000 people in England and Wales have first strokes- about 10,000 are under the age of 55. The Stroke Association provides practical support for people who have had strokes, their families and carers.
Special Swimming Club
The Wrekin Special Swimming Club, caters for adults and children with physical or learning disabilities, but also encourages friends and families of swimmers to join in. We provide guidance and assistance in the pool, but ask carers to help in the pool and to provide help in the changing rooms.
Our club operates on a Sunday only from 5.15pm to 6.15pm at the Wellington Civic and Leisure Centre, at a cost of £1 a session.

Using tail-lift vehicles or volunteers own cars we provide transport for people who thorough age, infirmity or disability are unable to use public transport.
Community Mobility Transport provides a variety of transport services throughout Telford and Wrekin:

We provide transport to day centres for elderly and disabled people, and
to education and social services for adults with learning disabilities
or mental health problems and children with special needs .
Wrekin Community
Cars
Under this scheme voluntary drivers help people who are unable to access
public transport with essential journeys to doctors, opticians, etc.
Passengers contribute 55% of the costs with Borough of Telford and
Wrekin paying the balance.
Tail Lift Buses
for the Disabled
We administer 5 buses for transporting groups to Age Concern day centres
to take groups and clubs to meetings and on outings. The buses are
available for hire.
