To open a jar/bottle, put the
container in a drawer. Push the draw shut with your body to hold it
still, turn the lid with your non-involved hand.
Instead of trying to carry drinks
upstairs, keep a small kettle and dried drinks ingredients upstairs.
To help remember things, carry a small notebook or Dictaphone tape
recorder with you.
Plan ahead for your medication.
Keep 2 small containers each day. Prepare medication in each, then you
have one for before bed and for in the morning.

Keep your keys on a hook by
the door, then you will always know where they are. |

Get yourself a timer that
you can wear around your neck and set it when you need to
remember something after that amount of time. |

Use tools that are small and
take batteries, as these only need one hand to use. |
 |
Buy socks with soft tops.
These are easier to put on and take off. |
 |
Make a habit of looking at
your white board at night to see if you have an appointment the
next day. |
 |
If you make a shopping list,
remember to take it with you! |
 |
Keep a list of medicines,
health problems, GP's name and address, important telephone
numbers and other important information with you in case of an
emergency, or simply for taking to hospital appointments with
you. |

Add reminders to mobile
phones for appointments. |
 |
E-mail or send to family,
neighbours and close friends, your list of important
information, medication, GP's address etc, to aid your own
memory or in case of emergency. |

Gentlemen - if your trousers will go over your
hips, do the top button and belt up, on the loosest fastening,
whilst your sitting down, then stand up and tighten your belt up. |

If you are a carer - take a
break. |
